The Stationery

Here are a few tips from the experts about what stationery to use for your direct mail program.

1. Use quality stationery for your direct mail program. Don’t skimp on sub-par materials – it will only reflect poorly on your business and your direct mail offer.

2. Never use labels for your direct mail program. Labels are immediately identified as direct mail pieces and will be discarded more readily. While using labels for your direct mail program might be a time and money saver, in the long run using labels will hamper conversions of your direct mail program.

3. Be sure to use standard #10 envelopes for your direct mail program.

4. Never use colored envelops or color stationery. This looks very unprofessional.

5. Windowed envelops are not preferred.

The Letter

Be concise, be clear and offer a call to action. “Call to action” is a term used to describe a special offer, exclusive offer or discount that is only available through your direct mail program. This type of communication grabs the interest of your potential customers. You might opt to include a discount code, unique 1-800 number or other identifiers to track the efficacy of your direct mail campaign.
